Jul 17, 2015 · Simple put: Once too many corrupted blocks (Ebonstone, Corrupt Grass etc.) are near the housing, the house will become corrupted and invalid for an NPC. Simply purify the area or build a house away from the corrupted area while it suits the other requirement for it to become suitable.

If you dont, use smart cursor to place the backwall, its a great way to double check for a missing piece as well as quickly placing all the backwalls when building a space. As of 1.1, a house needed to be a minimum of 60 tiles and a max of 750 (in addition to the other considerations).
